“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free."

This is how Michelangelo responded when asked about how he created his masterpiece statue of David.  He said that he simply removed all the stone that wasn’t necessary in order to “set David free.”

Think about it!  He looked at that slab of marble and started removing what didn't belong.  Once he removed all that didn't contribute to the beauty he was creating he was left with a masterpiece!

How would this strategy apply to YOU?  What if you were to start removing all that you have accumulated that isn’t creating the best version of yourself?
What if you carved away un-forgiveness, anger, low self esteem, regret, guilt, shame, unhappiness………..  just imagine what YOU would look like after you carved away all “that wasn’t necessary” to set YOURSELF free?

You are a masterpiece!  Far too many people are looking for something OUTSIDE of themselves to “fix” how they look or feel.  Some magic pill or habit that you ADD to be the masterpiece you dream of being.

What if we are looking at it all wrong and really what we need to do is remove all that EXTRA that has kept us from being our best version?      The extra that has kept us from being the masterpiece that we are…….

Let’s stop looking outside of ourselves and instead let’s go inward. Let's remember WHO we were created to be. Let’s rediscover our inner power, strength , beauty and uniqueness.  It's all there, I promise!! Maybe being the magnificent creation that we were created to be is as simple as that.  Tune into your inner light, your power and your amazing-ness

Celebrate YOU and send the rest packing.

EMDR therapy is the best therapy I have experienced for amazing emotional health and wellness:)

I had a troubling memory. This memory had caused me to believe something ugly, something which my logical brain knew wasn’t true. This memory originated back when I was about 3 years old! I had tried everything to unglue this memory from my brain and release the negative beliefs that surrounded it. When I say that I tried everything I can assure you I had tried over 10 different alternative and conventional therapies to free myself of this mental toxicity. Sure, these therapies had definitely helped dull the memory and quiet the belief but it was still hanging out in my head and coloring my perception.

Enter EMDR. I had heard about the therapy and it made sense, but to be honest, I was only mildly hopeful as I had already tried so many other “promising” therapies. In the hour long session I completely reprocessed my troubling memory from when I was three years old. I was no longer feeling triggered by the memory. impressive. I actually started to feel thankful that the painful event had happened as I realized that the event had ultimately helped me in ways I would have never considered. Talk about a plot twist! At the end of the session I felt a little odd. Like I was missing something that had always been with me. Over the next 24 hours or so I began to feel the freedom…….. I no longer held the ugly belief or felt triggered by the troubling memory. I was hooked!

Those of you who know me know that emotional health is my passion. You also know that I firmly believe that every physical malady has an emotional root. Heal the emotion and you will heal the body. This isn’t a new concept its just an uncomfortable one. You see, we have all been conditioned to either “stuff” our emotions via substances, shopping, electronics, etc or take a pill to numb it out. The problem with this approach is that it doesn’t work and it only delays and intensifies the inevitable. We needn’t be afraid of our emotions. We do need to feel them to heal them but we all shy away from the idea of exploring our discomfort and pain. This is why EMDR is such a home run. With EMDR we don’t have to marinate in our trauma by going over every detail and reliving the drama. We go through a simple process that helps us to target what our issue is and the emotions that it brings up. Next we consider the ways in which this memory has impacted us and then we reprocess it. It’s a pretty comfortable and non intimidating therapy that has tons of science behind it. Research proves that the success rate for EMDR is much higher than that of traditional talk therapy!

Im completely hooked:) EMDR began by proving itself to me and has now been amazing me with my clients. EMDR is a wonderful way to process our emotional toxicity and keep it from accumulating. It is a true GIFT to live life free of emotional wounds and debris……..

Feel Centered and Grounded No Matter What is Going on Around You!

Feeling safe and grounded in the world today may take some intentional practices

How to Feel Centered and Grounded no Matter WHAT is

Going on Around You!

We have definitely moved into an unfamiliar space in our lives.  One in which we simply don’t have any experience on how to navigate.  One in which we didn’t choose and we're not sure where it’s going to go.

It may feel strange, uncomfortable, scary, and downright overwhelming (among many other emotions) and thats ok.  This space is not comfortable for most of us which then leads us to feel some degree of stress or anxiety.

I am going to give you a few suggestions to help you walk through this time with focus and balance (most of the time).

For starters, allow yourself to feel ALL of your emotions.  Acknowledge your feels as they arise and honor them.

Don’t stuff your emotions and assume that they’ll just go away (hint: they won’t)

Process feelings as they arise.

How?  Start by acknowledging them! Take a quiet minute (or more) to actually sit with the emotion, focus on it and call it what it is.The very act of naming the emotion you are feeling is very empowering. You may also want to notice where in your body you are feeling this emotion.

Now that you know the emotion that is visiting and perhaps where in your body it is hanging out, thank it.  You heard me right.  Thank this emotion for arising to communicate with you and teach you how you are feeling. Perhaps consider why this emotion has made  an appearance.  Now that you have felt the emotion, given it permission to be there, understood why it appeared and felt it, you can now give it permission to go.  Make sure you are breathing during this process and focusing on the exhale ~ Watch what happens……..

Play  “what if”.  We want to uncover whats disturbing our peace so when a worry arises, call it out.  Think about the worry and ask : what if the opposite of the worry ended up happening.  It's been proven that only 8.6% of what you worry about actually comes true.  8.6%!

So here we’ve been wasting all of our powerful energy meditating on the negative (worrying) when the odds of it actually happening are slight!!  Start reframing your thought process and create a new perspective.

Consider journaling all of your thoughts and prayers.  This process of writing out your thoughts and prayers actually helps you to energetically release and clear out. This is super helpful for long term emotional clarity and balance.
